The Internet is a co-operative endeavour that relies on the collaborative involvement of competing business. Nowhere is this more evident than within an Internet Exchange
By peering with other service providers, ISPs and content providers can interconnect their network and exchange Internet traffic. All established content providers are welcome to join the Exchange regardless of where they are based – either in the UK or overseas. We restrict Edge-IX to those who provide access predominantly to the UK community. As Edge-IX is a distributed Exchange, members can connect at the location most convenient to them.
Companies joining the Exchange must be recognised legal entities with their own AS number and be willing to peer with at least one other member of the Exchange.
