Edge-IX is a new breed of Internet Exchange which allows our members across the UK to benefit from the success of one of the most mature Internet Exchanges in Europe – Manchester Network Access Point Ltd (MaNAP).

In April 2005, NWIX Group Ltd, an infrastructure service provider, became the owner of MaNAP, a regional not for profit Internet Exchange. We continued to operate the Internet Exchange in association with the new mutual company MaNAP Ltd. For several years an agreement was in place between NWIX and MaNAP Ltd which meant only those who became part of MaNAP Mutual could benefit from Exchange services.

In late 2008, we agreed to create a nationally distributed Exchange so as to make it easier for large corporate organisations to benefit from our services. In 2009, MaNAP Ltd had changed its name to Edge-IX Ltd and continues to operate an Internet Exchange on a not-for-profit basis.
