The success of the Internet relies on the cooperation of the organisations that use this channel to do business, whether they compete or not. Many Edge-IX members are in competition with each other, yet on the Exchange they collaborate to benefit themselves and their customers and the wider Internet community.
As a nationally distributed exchange, Edge-IX is uniquely placed in a number of key areas, including emerging communications hubs, as a partner to work with. Our services provide members with the ability to meet their changing needs and the ever growing expectations of their users.
Our core service is to act as an Internet Exchange point and facilitate the interconnection of member networks enabling them to exchange Internet traffic and reduce costs, reduce latency and improve the end user experience.
Growing the Exchange
The number of peering arrangements you can set-up across an exchange platform determines the costs savings as well as network optimisations. The more members we have, the more it benefits all of the Edge-IX membership.
We encourage our members to peer with each other, and we also actively build relationships with key content providers to enhance the value of the Exchange for all of our membership.
As a new breed of Internet Exchange, Edge-IX is uniquely positioned to meet the changing needs of the Internet community and how they use the network. This is being driven by the content delivery needs of many service providers being met through the emergence of regional hubs.
